For a toothache: Rinse the mouth with warm water and gently floss around the tooth to remove any trapped food. Apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek if there’s swelling.
For a knocked-out permanent tooth: Find the tooth, hold it by the crown (not the root), and rinse it gently. Try to place it back in the socket if possible. If not, store it in milk or saliva and bring it with you.
For a chipped or cracked tooth: Rinse with warm water and save any broken pieces. If there’s bleeding, apply gentle pressure with gauze.
